Resolve audio sync wishlist

PostSun Mar 07, 2021 8:12 pm

First of all, it's great that Resolve has audio auto sync features and I have become heavily reliant on a few of them but there are a few things I think could be improved.

1. The autosync algorithm could be greatly improved.
There are times when I expected it to work and it just didn't. I've noticed that I get poor results if my scratch audio level is low. I've tried increasing that level and I wonder if the algorithm picks that up. The only reason I know it can be improved is that I've done an identical operation in Premiere and I got much better results.

2. Appending multiple tracks to the same video clip.
Sometimes when I shoot, I have 2 or more lapels going. Syncing these together can be a huge nightmare because the append audio function only appends one track. It would be so great if Resolve could append more than one.

3. Using manually linked audio in the sync bin. When I'm working on multicam clips, sometimes I find that the sync by audio misses a few clips because the algorithm can't match the audio. What I've tried to do is to manually link the audio (using the waveform tab on the media page) to the clips that weren't matching but it seems that the sync bin doesn't pick up manually linked audio. Even if the linked audio is the exact same audio I want to sync with in the sync bin.

4. It would be great to get a visual indication in the media pool when an audio clip is linked to a video clip and also to be able to find out (maybe by right clicking) which video clip it is linked to. This would be especially useful to me when manually linking clips.
