Resolve 17 AAF Conform Broken

Importing AAF made in Avid Media Composer is broken in 17 release. Resolve no longer conforms camera originals. Clips all have correct reel name but timecode in and outs are shifted to values not in the original clip. Same AAF in Resolve 16.2.8 works perfectly.

Disappointing, because my 40 users really need Project Server to make all of our lives easier.

Any clues when it will be fixed.

Mac or Windows?
Can you post a single clip AAF that shows this, with the clip?

Peter,

Ok, I did some testing. (17.0 build 39)

[size=85]One clip synced to 5 channel audio wave. Export Using Avid AAF Preset, import to avid, cut sequence, export AAF from Avid, Import AAF to Resolve 17, Link to Source Camera Files, failed with message below.

One clip synced to 5 channel audio wave. Export Using Avid AAF Preset, Import AAF directly back into Resolve 17, Link to Source Camera Files, failed with message below.

One clip synced to 5 channel audio wave. Export Timelines>export AAF Import AAF directly back into Resolve 17, Link to Source Camera Files, failed with message below.

One Clip, sync audio unlinked leaving one track of camera sound. Export Timelines>export AAF Import AAF directly back into Resolve 17, Link to Source Camera Files, failed with message below.

File is to large to upload. I am not allowed to upload urls. I can send you the clip if you provide email. File is a .r3d 1.08 GB

Peter,

Has there been any development on this bug? I really would like to move to 17.1

I can confirm this is an issue and am eager to learn of a resolution.

AAF from Media Composer 2020.12 does not reconnect at accurate timecode in resolve 17 beta nor 17.1

Hi Robert,

Can you please confirm again that your workflow used to work in Resolve 16?
The way this functionality was designed, was to link to those original camera files, which were transcoded in media composer itself for editing.

Your workflow however is starting from Resolve - in this case, Media Composer wont have a link to the original camera files in the first place.

The following workflow does not work in Resolve 17 (in windows) and works in Resolve 16:

Start in Resolve and generate proxies for editorial in media composer using the Avid AAF preset.
Edit in Media Composer. Generate a link-to AAF.
Import AAF into same Resolve project that already has camera original footage.

In 16 this AAF would link with time and resize information intact.
In 17 the timecode is not being interpreted correctly with no discernable pattern other than it is trying to connect to an earlier timecode.

Please advise. I'm happy to assist if helpful.

Michael
