Organise in same folder structure after export

PostFri Mar 12, 2021 7:57 am

Hello,

Before I worked as a photo assistant and worked with the program capture one. In that program I could organise the images in different folders and when I export the still images I could choose to have them be put in the same folder structure afterwards.

So my question is if it's possible to do the same in Davinci Resolve but with timelines?

I often work with clients that wants a lot of different versions so to be able to organise all the different versions in resolve and then point back to the same folder structure after export would speed up my process by a lot.

Thanks,
Jacob

Depending on your exact use case, this is somewhat possible, yes.
In the Deliver page, under the 'File' tab, there is the option to "Preserver Hierarcy after x folder levels". This will mimic the folder structure of your source files upon output. However, this option is only available when exporting 'single clips' (since a Resolve Timeline doesn't have a source folder hierarchy)

Alternatively, you could mimic a similar structure by using variables in the output name, such as /%Clip Directory/%File name (where clip directory refers to the bin in your media pool, I assume).
But whether or not it is possible to mimic the original structure depends on the way your source folders were structured.
