Install newer postgres version on LXC container

Hello. We have a Proxmox setup inside our local server that allows to install VMs and LXC containers.
My goal is to install a postgres server inside a LXC container. There is already a tar.gz provided by Turnkey that has everything we need to manage databases and users, but it's the most recent version and they do not provide version 9.5 as indicated by Da Vinci installation guide. I want to avoid installing the provided CentOS image in a VM and keep things simple. Would a recent version of postgres work if setup correctly following the guide? I refer to basic setup of pg_hba.conf, firewall, port 5432 etc. Thank you

If it's of any help I can provide some more info:

the workstations that will need to connect are 2 Mac with Mojave
the LXC containers templates accepted are for Debian 10 (Buster), amd64

this is the template available for install:

debian-10-turnkey-postgresql_16.0-1_amd64.tar.gz

For what it’s worth, BMD still only vouches for 9.5 despite it being EOL: Request for Resolve 17 to use a supported PostgreSQL version

Data structures are different in newer major versions, so you may have issues if you deviate. We’re just waiting for BMD to update to a modern, supported version of PostgreSQL.

Thank you Seth. Solved with minimal install of the Blackmagic Centos version. I managed to setup Postgres 9.5 from there
