aspect ratio R3D project made with M1 issue

PostFri Mar 12, 2021 8:26 pm

Use RED to shoot 2.4 ASP ratio RAW, test using the new ProxyMedia.
I am using M1 Mac with 16GB RAM. DaVinci is 17.1 Studio.

Decode Quality: Full, it will directly report that the GPU memory is full.

At this time, directly rendering ProxyMedia or using MediaManage will render fragments containing error frames, so that they cannot be linked or used.

The Decode Quality must be reduced to Half or lower.
But the generated proxy cannot be linked, and the file cannot be read.

Generate Proxy directly, 2.4 ASP will be generated at the original scale.

So i just only use MediaManage, but using MediaManage transcoding will create a folder every time, resulting in very inconvenient management.

1. M1 reads RAW frequently reports that the GPU memory is full, and the proxy cannot be generated correctly.
2. Directly generated proxy cannot be linked, and the ASP ratio is incorrect.
3. Why do I need to create a new folder every time I use MediaManage to transcode? and no option

So, I'm stuck here now...
I have reported since 17.1b, please solve these issue

Switch off the GPU decoding and debayering for Red clips and try again. Works fine here, even rendering in 4K on a MB Air with only 8 GB.
That said, I found a nice balance of CPU and GPU load when using only debayering by GPU and running at 1/4 res. And all of this is asking a lot from this entry-level machine. Try that with a PC laptop for the same price ;-)
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.
