Individual clips not matching with source footage in FCP X.

PostSun Mar 14, 2021 3:05 pm

Hello!

I’ve spent hours trying to problem solve an issue with my FCP X to Resolve roundtrip using DV footage from my Sony VX1000.

So I start by importing an XML into Resolve from FCPX, I then grade my footage. All looks great. I go to render individual clips and when I import those clips into FCPX, each clip is about 2 frames too long. I already checked and there are no handles settings turned on in resolve.

The timecode is also off, so even if I wanted handles (which I do!) I wouldn’t be able to match up the source timecode.

I think my issue is caused by something related to interlacing. My frame rate is 29.97i in FCP X but in resolve I can only set it at 29.97 (no i).

Anyone know what I can do to be able to export my individual clips from Resolve and have them match exactly with my FCP X source footage?

Is there some sort of de-interlacing I should do on the FCP X side before exporting the XML for Resolve?

Hope I explained that well enough, I’m at the limit of my technical knowledge with this interlacing issue!
