Davinci Resolve 17.1 Fairlight Configuration Presets

PostSun Mar 14, 2021 9:06 pm

If I open a new project and try to apply my saved Fairlight Configuration Presets I can't because they don't appear in the Fairlight Presets Library. Interestingly, if I open an older project that was created prior to 17.1 and try to view the presets they do appear in the same dialog. Please help. I don't want to go through the pain of setting up all of my Fairlight settings again!

Version 16's Full Console Presets apply to the Fixed Bus mode in version 17.
In version 17, in Flexi Bus mode the equivalent Presets are Configuration Presets.

The two Preset types are not entirely interchangeable due to the internal structure of each Bussing mode and are therefore stored in different locations.

While not recommended due to the potential incompatibility applying Fixed Bus mode Presets to another Bussing mode due to the different routing schemes involved, you may have some degree of success manually copying Presets between folders and updating as required.

Thanks. I got the project done by going to an old project, saving out the dynamics and the EQ settings, and then those appeared in 17. I then added the simple stuff (limiter, etc.) and saved the whole thing out in the full console presets in 17.

I just discovered the "preferences" you mention below as I'm trying to bring up a new machine and I want all of these settings over there.

I hope this is still viewed as a bug! Both settings are named "full console presets" and thus when someone upgrades DR, their prior saved settings do disappear without any mention of it. What's worse is that you tend to reach for those settings after you've put a lot of work into the edit. That's a lot of work lost!

Essentially the upgrade process should "upgrade" those settings too and/or a note about how one can manually recover those settings should be added.
