Hey guys I need some help.

I wanted to try color managed workflow with gen 5 science but not sure how this is working.

Project settings are davinci color managed with preset as davinci wide gamut. Output space is rec 709

Gives me a rec 709 look as a start

If I go into raw settings and change from gen 4 to gen 5, nothing happens.

If I change project settings from color managed to davinci yrgb and timeline and output as rec 709 gen 4 to gen 5 does make a change.

Please help me in understanding how this works?

How can I use gen 5 and see the difference between 4 & 5 in color managed workflow?

It's not clear to what extent, if at all, 17.1 supports gen 5 in color managed workflows. But, generally, a color managed workflow won't allow a change of color science in the raw tab.

Maybe this feature will supported in future, but for now..... If you want to experiment with 4/5, you'll need to use Davinci YRGB.

I need some more help in understanding how color managed workflow works.

I see when I choose color managed and select rec 709 vs when I select davinci wide gamut, the color information is so much more in wide gamut.

I am a little confused as to how this works.

Is this workflow equivalent to starting with a node with color space transform? And hence the colors are already limited to 709? While in wide gamut that information outside 709 gamut is still retained?

Thank you for the suggestion. I am not a member there right now. And for 80$ just to understand this is not feasible right now for me. I am just experimenting color managed workflow.

Just wanted to know if its equivalent to cst at the first node.

Thank you. I've read that. But that's not what I am looking for. I am not wondering what davinci wide gamut is.

I am asking if color managed workflow is equivalent to cst at the first node
