Best Way To Work Between Computers

I have Resolve Studio on two machines - a Windows machine and a macOS machine. One is at home, the other at the office. My workflow involves carrying an external SSD where my projects and media for several active projects lives (there are backups, don't worry, but that's not applicable here).

Having come from Premiere, this workflow was fine - I had all assets and related project files in a Finder folder with subfolders below that to organize everything. I could move or archive the project by grabbing that one folder.

I'm a little confused about the best way to operate in the same mobile manner with Resolve. My current solution involves linking to a disk database on the SSD every time I connect it to a machine, and my plan for archiving is exporting the finished project and putting it into a folder with the necessary media for that project.

Reconnecting a database every time feels... incorrect. Is this the best way? Am I doing something very stupid? What would you recommend instead? I appreciate any thoughts you might have.

It's been suggested to me that I export and import projects but keep a local DB on each machine. While obviously cumbersome to execute, does this carry similar risks of corruption to the project file?

I suppose a potential positive would be that there'd be a few versions of the project floating around if something were to go wrong with a project file.

Thanks for this suggestion! As I explore resolve for my freelance and personal work and consider implementing it for my whole team at my day job, I've dug into this a little.

Networking off of our shared storage server would certainly be most ideal, and would allow the benefits of the database to really shine through, I think, vs my local, single-user current work with Resolve.
