Just downloaded Davinci 17 and it won't open on my computer. The error message I get is "unsupported GPU Processing Mode". I'm not very computer savvy and it's probably something easy but can someone help.

It is probably the issue, it's a HP Intel core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.4 GHz and 8.00 GB with a 64 bit operating system.

8 GB RAM and no separate GPU (at least you don't mention one) will be an issue for sure.

If someone could let me know a direction I should take in computers to buy I would love to hear about them. I'm now looking for one specifically for your software, I would actually like to upgrade to a pay version but would rather try out the free version first. I looked in to a mac, where everyone has pointed me from other forums. https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-mac/imac ... 5ghz-256gb is the one I was looking at buying. If there are others that would be better please let me know. Thank you!

While I use a Mac myself (actually, more than one), I wouldn't invest into any Intel-based Mac anymore.

The new M1 machines are great, but at this time there are only entry level machines. They can run Resolve, but they are severely limited when it comes to demanding grading or effects like noise reduction, optical flow and such tasks.

So, if you have an acceptable monitor, you may get the M1 Mac mini and start now or you could wait for a new iMac, probably by the end of this year.

After 20 years of using MACs (and PC's and other computers prior to that) I would recommend a PC rather than a MAC these days.

With a PC 's easier to upgrade memory, storage, graphics cards, screens, etc etc. Also components costs less and multiple sources.

the Computer the OP has might be good enough if it has a more memory and abetter Graphics card.

I recommend building.

https://www.newegg.com/

My choice would be for Intel 11th Gen CPU and nVidia RTX. (Though the latter is really hard to find right now.)

Second that, but do they have stock? If so, it might be a rare opportunity to get a 3090 these days…
