Start with media page instead of cut page

PostTue Mar 16, 2021 8:26 am

When I open a new project, DaVinci 17.1 always starts in the CUT page. But I would like to start with the media page - that's actually the logical way to start a new project ...
Is it possible and how?
Regards
Oliver

I'm not aware of any user settings for this.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I've already searched and watched all kinds of tutorials - unfortunately nothing.
But now I know what BM thought about using the CUT page - I have to try first whether it is really faster.

It's simple.
I'm fairly sure whatever the page you leave open last, will be the default page that opens the next time.

So if you're working on a project, just finish and save on the Media page... and next time voila!!
This will also apply to the next new project - last page saved, first page to open.
That has been my experience anyway.

That only works if the new project is created after closing another project.

If the new project is the first thing you do after opening Resolve, you get the Cut page.

Hmmmm... you're correct Jim.
Any existing project will open on the page you last saved, no matter the project, and any New Project opens on that page as well, provided, and it is a bit of a catch it seems, that the New Project is opened directly after the last save. Should you close DR and reopen, then yes it appears that it does default to a different page... not necessarily the Cut Page, because as I don't have the Cut Page visible, it defaults to the Edit Page.

A solution could be to "pre-make" New Projects, so that when you opened them up, they would open on the Media tab... but it's starting to sound like much more fuss than just hitting the Media tab on a default New Project in the first place !!!

It's one click. Personally, I don't worry about it.
