Lost Database

Hey guys,
I'm in a pickle.

I was using the free version of Resolve and had upgraded it to 17.
Today I got my hands on Resolve Studio however it was v 16.
So I had to uninstall the free version to perform the install of the Studio Version.

Having installed Resolve Studio 16, it informed me that my database was incompatible as it
was the newer version.
At this point, it wasn't possible for me to check for update, without doing something about the
exclaimation marked current database.
So I created a new database called temp, just to gain access to the next screen that would allow me to upgrade Resolve to 17
On we go, install complete, but I now can't find my original database.

Is it possible to reconnect it?

Having read a few posts of similar issues, I think I read that it would not have been deleted, so
in theory, it's there somewhere right? (he asked nervously)

In answer to your question, no, I didn't back it up. (like the rushing fool I am)
Secondly, I am on a Windows PC.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So my search has lead me to

This PC->Videos->Resolve Project Backups

None of the folders within are openable or seem to contain anything.

The latest one has this name

df7af75b-aee9-4fc4-b975-f89df002285f

Have I wiped the original database somehow?

You don't need to upgrade from within the software. Had you simply downloaded 17.1 from the web site and installed that, all would have been well.

Unfortunately, without a Database backup to Restore, I don't know how to get it back.

When you say "uninstall", you used Windows program uninstall, correct? You didn't it manually uninstall anything yourself?

With Windows, you wouldn't have deleted the database. So you need to locate the original 16 database folder. You can then try to reconnect it manually to 17, in the database manager.

If that doesn't work, I would uninstall 17, re-install 16 and try to reconnect the 16 database from there. Then, upgrade to 17.

Hi Jim, thanks for your reply. I see what you're saying. Because I'd a sd card with the studio version, I thought I needed to do it that way because a Google search had indicated that to me.
This would have been fine except the free version database that I had was upgraded to 17 and hence unreadable by the newly installed v 16.

Oh well! My bad for not backing it up :/

Yes I used Windows to uninstall, the problem was that the database in missing was upgraded to 17 and the studio I installed from the sd drive was 16 so it couldn't connect to my original database hence my disconnecting it. I'm having locating the original!

Just in case someone makes the same mistake I did:
Here's what I did to rectify the situation:
My old database was here:

C:\Users\YOUR NAME\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Resolve Disk Database (of course, replace YOUR NAME with the user title of the computer).
