Using the 'Replace' function query

Has the replace function changed? or have I lost my memory?

I was sure that the replace function (F11) replaced an instance maintaining any effects etc..

Just realised I was trying to replace a graphic with moves etc with another graphic that was a different size so it was appearing that the effects did no translate...
