None of my effects library is showing up

Hi, I'm new to this software so I can't figure out why this has happened. Basically, when I first used the software a couple days ago I was trying to learn how to use it so I was trying to put some Video FX into my timeline. It didn't let me do this and instead urged me to buy the full version of the software. Another possibility is that my effects library may have stopped working since I attempted to install the newest version. Every time I've been on it since, the only things it will let me add from the effects library is text. I've tried uninstalling the software and reinstalling it. I can't seem to find anything about this on the forum either. Any help on this would be much appreciated, thanks.

As a new user, your first course of action should be to complete some Resolve training. The Beginner's Guide and Advanced Editing are an excellent groundwork to get you moving smoothly. ;)

Gethin, try this.

Any FX plug-in that says you should buy the paid version means it is not available in the Free version.

Gethin, I'm not sure that I understand your post. Are you saying that you tried to drag an effect to the timeline without there being any video clip there? If so, that is not the way it works. You apply FX to video clips.
Do follow up on Jim's suggestion as to the learning materials supplied by Blackmagic. They will help you far more than just thrashing around in the dark trying to get something to work. :)

You've entered a character into the search field. Click the X to clear the search field. Add your voice to this conversationhttps://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=135064&hilit=+disappeared, which was originally about filtering the media pool, but applies equally to filtering the effects library.
