Proxies and RAW workflow

PostSat Mar 20, 2021 3:13 pm

Hello everyone,

I am editing RED footage, and I'm trying to figure out the right way to handle proxies creation and raw settings. the proxy created seams to look always the same...

What I'd like to do is modify the RAW settings for each clip separetely and then create the proxies for each clip so that the proxy clip will be created based on those settings. But when I do change the RAW settings - for example in the edit page/Image tab - and then render the Proxy file, the result clip don't match the settings.

Am I doing something wrong? what would the right way to achieve that, if there is one. And as for a RAW workflow, based on which settings the proxies files are created?

Thank you for your help!

Do you need proxies?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Maybe not. Being wavelet, the Red codec scales very well. Try 1/8 resolution.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

hmm,

thanks but i'd like to use this function since its available. I have a big project and I don't want to bring 40 TB of stuff with me.

So I'd like to understand the process. Meaning, based on which settings the proxies are created and how to affect those settings.

If I correct the clips using the Raw settings in the color page (say I increase the iso from 500 to 800), then create the proxies, the created proxies will still look like at 500 iso. That's what I would like to understand. How to create proxies according to basic raw adjustments.
