Decklink 4K + Timeline FHD - what lags to expect?

PostSat Mar 20, 2021 12:56 am

Hello Everyone!

I'm shooting Prores 422 4k60p and 5k60p from 2 cameras, edit them as Multicam and deliver 4k60p to YouTube.

If my timeline is 4k, I'm starting to have lags after adding many grade nodes (AMD 3960x / 3090 RTX / 128GB RAM / NVME disks), so I'm working at FHD timeline and switching to UHD at delivery step.

So the main question, if I want to work with FHD timeline, but monitor it with Decklink in 4k with Asus PQ22UC OLED (just got good deal for that) - Will this mean that I will have more lags than if using a 4K timeline?

And one more question, all my delivery videos are 4k 60fps, does it mean that Mini Monitor 4K will not work for my case? Or I can use it just with 30fps for color grade monitoring without loosing any quality?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
