Why the PSNR of exported XAVC files is low

PostSun Mar 21, 2021 9:32 am

Hello ,

I rendered a same source to XAVC 50 Long GOP with the same settings by DaVinci Resolve and Adobe-Premire , Then I calculated the PSNR of exported files by FFmpeg , This is the result :

DaVinci Resolve 16.2.7 : PSNR y:34.636910 u:36.616468 v:37.462996 average:35.666692 min:34.118992 max:38.61114

Adobe Premiere Pro 14.4.0 : PSNR y:36.013360 u:37.493973 v:38.229220 average:36.833743 min:34.957585 max:43.70489

Q: Why is the quality lower even though the DaVinci uses standard Sony plugin?

Adobe is using MainConcept, try their Plug-In for Resolve:

My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.
