Can't play clips, use CUDA, .mp4 or h.264 in Linux

Dear all

I recently bought Resolve Studio 17.1 but for some reason I can't switch to CUDA in settings, encode to .mp4 or the h.264 codec. And I can't play files - sometimes I can watch a preview, but when I put a clip in the timeline, I can no longer play anything.

My system is as follows:
Pop!_OS 20.04 LTS (Ubuntu-based)
Intel Core i5-4440 CPU, 3.10GHz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 760, driver version 460.56

It's not a power house, but I could cut earlier on Resolve 16 (free edition, but I can't tell exactly which version now that I upgraded). Resolve Studio 16.2.8 behaves as 17.1, with the exception that I can choose to use CUDA, but after a program restart Resolve writes a GPU error when I try to play anything.

Maybe the issues are connected, like an unsupported GPU, or they have different reasons. Either way any advice is very welcome!

Thanks!

From v16.2.8 you need a CUDA 11 capable GPU and that one im afraid is too old.

Thanks for the quick reply!
As a solution, until I upgrade my system, I tried to revert to version 16.2.7.
But it's the same result as with the newer versions. Nothing really works as intended, neither CUDA or OpenCL can play files in the timeline. I've deleted .local/share/DaVinciResolve between installs, but it's all the same.
Is there maybe some files left behind, from the newer version that are messing with the old version?

try re-installing your GPU driver

Thanks!
After some trial and error, I found that version 16.2.6 is the latest version, where I can play clips and use CUDA without a GPU error. But there still isn't a option to encode to .mp4 and h.264 in Deliver.
Could there be a solution to this, or is it also because of a old GPU?

Old GPU.
Look for NVidia that was released in the last 24 months with at least 8GB ram
