17.1 losing video feed

PostTue Mar 23, 2021 10:53 am

Hello,

Mike from Greece, I have a MBP 2019 i5, running Catalina with Blackmagic eGPU, and after updating to 17.1, strangest thing happens.

If I leave the project for a while, clips from my GoPro 9(I have 8 and 5sessions clips in there, without problems), are displaying the red "Media Offline". Sound is there though.

I tried relinking but in vain. Only if I close DR and reopen it the error goes away.

Any leads?

Are you caching? I have seen a few offline errors which went away after deleting the cache.

Yup, a lot of people are getting this with 17.1. Joing a DR group on facebook and you'll see a slew of posts.

I never once saw 'media offline' w v16, but now with v17, you leave your computer for a period of time with Resolve open and come back to one or a slew of 'media offline' red squares hitting you in the face. Only way to fix it is to close out resolve. Re-link media no worky.

Hope they fix it.

@Uli, I will delete the cache and check.
@mrking, even 17 was fine for me, the problem started with 17.1. Thanks for the FB tip.

Quite a few folks are reverting to 17.0, I'm considering that as well.

I just finished mastering a second feature on Resolve 17.1 last night, and I haven't experienced any media unlink problems. I have experienced other problems, but none life-threatening as of yet.

Problem still remains. Happens only on GoPro9 clips, after a while of inactivity.

Tried everything, when I leave my computer and come back after 10 mins, all GP9 clips are media offline.

Problem solved. I must be frank, I wasn't trying to solve it, I did it by chance.

I have cleared the cache many times but this didn't solve the problem. I was playing around the other day and wanted to test the speed of the thunderbolt and I switched the cache location to my external SSD. It worked, but not as fast as the internal Mac SSD. I noticed then that no matter how long I will leave DR alone, the "media offline" was not coming up.

Changed the cache back to the Mac SSD and the problem is not present anymore.

Just a heads up for anyone that is getting frustrated about it.

Thanks
