New user question about correctly configuring Frames per Second: Source clips are HD 1920x1080 but are generated by a "film to digital" conversion device that outputs a frame rate of 20fps only. The frame rate of the original Super 8 camera is 18fps, so once I put all my 20fps clips on the timeline, I do a bulk "change clip speed" on the timeline (Resolve 17.1 Studio) to establish the correct presentation speed of 18fps before I do any editing. My concern is that this is occurring within a Resolve Project master setting of 24fps, and I've had several freezes during Export of these very simple 1 track video +3 supers on video 2 track/1 track music, two and one-half minute projects. So far, Export has worked on second attempts, and the videos seem to play well, both online and on computer. I want these projects to be compatible with as many platforms as possible. I tested results with my timeline resolution set to 18fps, but found the speed reduction of my clips to 18fps didn't work through export: everything was played at 20fps. Given that Resolve aced Export of my first project (a multi-tracked complex edit of 60 minute duration using conventional camera clips at 24fps), I worry I'm doing something wrong, so I'd appreciate any guidance on this issue, as I have a substantial amount of film in archive I wish to convert. Is there a better way to set up Resolve for handling the frames per second parameters I've described? Thanks in advance for your help. Davinci Resolve is an awesome program. My previous software from other makers dates from 2008; needless to say my new system's performance is jaw-dropping!

I think my choice would be a new film scan at the proper 18 fps, keeping that all the way through the process.

Unfortunately, I don't have the option of buying another film scanner. This one was not inexpensive, so I'm looking for the best configuration settings within Resolve for working with what I have...

Well, to my thinking that's very much the hard way, because to do this "properly", you now need to go through and trim out all the repeated frames by hand.

Is the audio from the film?
If not, I’d be tempted to render the scan to dpx frames, then bring them back into a 18fps timeline
