No - in fact, subclips have actually gotten worse. There's a nasty bug I just ran into whereby copying a subclip into a new project does not copy any synched audio associated with that subclip, which I have confirmed is a regression from 16.2.8. That means if you copy, say, multiple timelines into a new project and have subclips with synched audio in those timelines, you will lose that audio, corrupting those timelines. I have not figured out a way to get the audio back.
Basic rule: do not use subclips in Resolve.
