Subclip improvements and issues fixed in v17?

PostThu Mar 25, 2021 11:37 pm

Did anything improve with Subclips in v17?

Such as, matching back to the original without extending the subclip back to the original. Which just created a copy. (this still doesn't seem possible)

Treating them as True Subclips and not truncated copies? (?)

If subclips are deleted, are they still offline in the timelines? and how to relink without manually conforming.

Most importantly, are the issues with linking to master vs subclip been resolved? In the past, we subclipped like we would using Avid, to later find out we couldn't relink back to the original footage masters.

thanks!

No - in fact, subclips have actually gotten worse. There's a nasty bug I just ran into whereby copying a subclip into a new project does not copy any synched audio associated with that subclip, which I have confirmed is a regression from 16.2.8. That means if you copy, say, multiple timelines into a new project and have subclips with synched audio in those timelines, you will lose that audio, corrupting those timelines. I have not figured out a way to get the audio back.

Basic rule: do not use subclips in Resolve.
