Can't use track matte on my logo

I have a logo (png). I have a piece of video that I want to use as an animated matte to glitch out the logo.
This matte works fine when I use it on another piece of video but NOT when I try it on the logo. What am I missing?
Is it something to do with the PNG already having an alpha channel?
Do I need to do this in Fusion? I was trying to just use the color tab.
