CUDA V Metal (High Sierra V Mojave)

PostMon Mar 29, 2021 12:16 pm

Hi all, I'm new to DaVinci Resolve and have been using it for a few months to edit and produce online church services.

I'm running DR16 on:

OSX 10.13.6 High Sierra (17G14019)
i7 2600K @ 4.2Ghz
32GB Ram
GTX770 4GB
CUDA 418.163

My GTX770 supports Metal so I could choose to do a Mojave Installation and upgrade to DR17. If I do this I will lose CUDA as a driver only exists up to High Sierra. If I go to Catalina then I'd loose my audio interface (TC KONNEKT 48D) as the driver is 32 bit and also my Avid Pro Tools Version won't work past Mojave.

So basically, it would be great if anyone can give an opinion or advice about the advantages or disadvantages of using:

HS 10.13.6 / DR16 / CUDA vs. Mojave 10.14.6 / DR17 / METAL

I appreciate that I have a 'modest' set up with an aging CPU and GFX but I'd still apreciate any advice or optinions that anyone has.

Best wishes

John
