I hope you are all doing well

I have a broad question to ask to the community. I will soon start an animation Company, and the short film/series and advertising will work on will be edited in DaVinci Resolve Studio (It is a great software by the way).

I am new to the domain, and because I will work simultaneously on a short film, a series and an advertising, I would like to know how to create a nice export of these for cinema, tv, steaming, YouTube and festivals etc...

I am sorry if my question looks dumb, but I am here to learn something I have no idea about! So if you can share with me your wisdom, or give me some documentation to read, I will be super happy

ps: I only know the short movie will be in 4k scope (4096x1716) /24fps

Ask.

Ask the cinema, broadcaster and festivals what they need? You may find that different places have different answers.

For You Tube, my preference is to upload a Cineform AVI file. (I have really good upload speeds.)

We usually go with ProRes 444, and I know people who do ProRes 444XQ. For Windows, you could use DNxHR444 at the appropriate frame rate and aspect ratio you need for your project.

Be aware that the streaming services generally want 23.98. If you're in Europe, you'll probably need 25fps for broadcast (if you need one for those channels). Some will specifically want letterboxed content, some will want an aspect ratio identical to your intended frame size (like 4096x1716).

Color space and gamma are issues as well, since D-Cinema projection is different than broadcast/online. I would just do it all in Rec709 gamma 2.4, and then do conversions to the other standards as needed. D-Cinema is fairly straightforward, unless you have the time and budget to do a full trim pass in a theater.
