Fairlight page - dragging clips doesn't scroll tracks

PostWed Mar 31, 2021 5:39 am

On the Fairlight page, if you have a bunch of clips on more tracks than fit on the screen, when you click and drag one to move it to a new track, the view window does not scroll when you make it to the top or bottom to continue on to tracks outside of the current view, but stops without scrolling.

This is obviously wrong, when dragging to the edge of a window viewport the GUI should smoothly scroll to reveal more tracks.

As an alternative use the Up and Down keys which behaves the same as the Fairlight Audio Editor's Track Selector switches.

While I'm dragging a clip?

Or do I have to do a cut and paste to use the arrow keys?

Cut Range > Paste (effectively moving the Clips within the Range up and down).

Ok.

I do feel that when manipulating objects with a mouse as is common these days, the user expectation is that the view moves with the drag to accommodate if dragged out of bounds or beyond a view. Call me old fashioned.

I'll post it as a suggestion on requested features.

The Timeline does scroll when mouse dragging selected Audio Clips in time in all Selection Modes.

This does not currently extend to vertical movement between Audio Tracks, so that is a good feature request.
