Grading Monitor DM240 Stuck on UHD

Issue: DM240 is zoomed into the image.
Background: Updated to 16.2.8 yesterday and Decklink 4K to Driver 12.0 today. The image is zoomed in. I spoke w FSI/Tech Spt/Josh today for one hour; we troubleshot the hardware, tinkered w/ settings inside DR, nothing is working. Image stays punched in whether or not timeline res is set to HD or UHD, and Video Monitoring is set to HD.
Output scaling is set to HD.
Video Status Report attached.

Signal sent to monitor is HD as per your report, so issue is in Resolve. UHD is not scaled, but it's cropped, which if I'm correct is default Resolve behaviour.
It will be all down to scaling (or card been in 'broken' state).
Project/Video monitoring section- set to HD and framerate matching your project.
Then Output Scaling: Output Resolution=HD and Scale Entire Image to Fit.
Input Scaling- typically Set Entire Image ot Fit.
If this is not working then you have strange issue.
Try creating fresh project (in case you opened one from olde Resolve version) and check then.
Make sure driver is properly installed. You can try un-installing and installing again. Sometime card need firmware update, but this doesn't get triggered on reboot (also Mac permission issues are possible cause).
There is info on support page how to manually trigger firmware check and update if needed (if I'm correct).

Only in your external monitor?
Not in the GUI viewer?
If both, the viewer ••• pulldown menu has a zoom option

Thanks; updated driver to Version 12 earlier today so I don't think that's the issue.
There is no issue w/ the GUI viewer. It shows full image regardless of HD or UHD selection.

How do you know update went 100% correctly? There were many reports about issues with it due to new OSX permission engine. Have you actually rebooted machine ?
What if you play HD file from MediaExpress?
Is it every Resolve project which has problem?

I remember struggling with something similar (same monitor), are you sure you set the input/output scaling in resolve correctly?
Are you able to hook up a different monitor just to see what happens?

With no reply to any of the suggestions with one earning a thank you, I guess we can chalk this one up to PEBKAC.

I've been working straight through the weekend trying to get this film graded. Left using GUI but I have no alternative. I spent a long time w/ FSI adjusting all I/O permutations; FSI is convinced the issue is not theirs. I will work through tomorrow night and try each rec above Tuesday. I may well disconnect card, FSI from MP19 first and hope that will fix it. This all happened in front of the client. Not good.

I think you wasting tine at wrong end. Problem is most likely in Resolve/BM not FSI.
You have to be methodological: re-connect everything, reboot, check playback from MediaExpress, check from new Resolve project...

Exactly my plan, Andrew, thanks again and I will let you know how it goes. The FSI tech was also adamant that it's not an FSI issue. Could also be OS as I am now one generation behind on both Mac OS and DR.
I will upgrade both once I finish HDR grading of my own film, roughly 3 weeks from now.

Desktop video does have internal setting options to convert outputs. Those are usually overridden by resolve. I don’t see your specs or hardware in your post (signatures aren’t seen in Tapatalk, if you have them posted there).
If using a Decklink card. Swapping the SDI outputs (there are two options) could help because only one is supposed to convert the signal.
I’d also suggest deleting the desktop video software/driver. Restarting. Installing the desktop software/driver. Restarting. Then checking it’s settings. Then starting resolve.
You also could try rolling back to an earlier version of Desktop video to see if that isolates the issue.

Another late night. Gave it my best shot but came up short.
Shut Down/Uninstalled DeckLink 4K Hardware/Reinstalled Hardware/Restarted/Opened DR/FSI still zoomed in as if UHD even though Timeline Res remains in HD for this UHD-sourced film.
Switched from SDI1 to SDI2 connection on back panel of FSI, same outcome.
Uninstalled BMD Desktop Video/Restarted/Reinstalled/Restarted/Opened DV, everything looked right/Opened DR/Rechecked Timeline Res and IO settings, appear to be in order. Outcome same, FSI zoomed in to UHD.
Tight day tomorrow, will see if I can download DV11. This issue bridged from 11 to 12 anyway so I don't think that's it but it's worth a try.

Is it always same project ?
Try simple playback (maybe HD as start) from new project. If good then try UHD with correct scaling settings (as above). If not go then render 5sec HD ProRes file and play it in MediaExpress.
You can also try hitting Reset in Resolve settings and set them again. I think something is bad with Resolve state.
You actually not even using UHD timeline, so output scaling should be irrelevant. You can even try to set: "Match Timeline".

What about Conversion tab ?
Image is centre cropped and scaled to your HD output.
Yes, going back to DV11 may be actually not a bad idea (if nothing else works).

It's a long shot, but my FSI monitor has a Pixel Zoom function that will display a zoomed in image. Check if that's happening on your monitor.
Also check the individual Timeline Settings for output monitoring format, as they override the Project Settings.

Dario, it was hand-carried 4444 single clip cut up inside DR16.
Peter, I went to idea 2 and checked my Timeline settings for output. They were set for UHD, but the other box was checked so that it would output per timeline res of HD.
So I went into the Format tab and changed it from UHD to HD and then the entire image showed up on the FSI Grading monitor.
The images you see are after I made the change to the Format tab.
So thanks to Dario and company for sticking in there with me. Unfortunately the client grew understandably quite restless and I lost this job in progress. Ouch.

You also have Monitor tab and this what is most interesting for you. You can stay with UHD timeline/output, but make sure monitoring is set to HD. If you now want to export this as UHD you have to change Format- don't forget.

@Jay - Seriously, my condolences and sympathies. Once a client’s trust is gone, it’s difficult to get back. “Trust is earned in drops and lost in buckets.” – Kevin Plank
I don’t even recognize that Edit Timeline preferences window. I presume it’s recent v16/17. I’ve been using Resolve since v8. I normally (under project settings) set my timeline resolution to the largest source camera raster and monitor HD to my CM 250. I choose render at source resolution for clip renders or let it default to the timeline resolution or customize in the Deliver Page.
I’ll be doing my homework on that timeline preference window to avoid that pitfall.
Best of luck going forward.
