Swapping Video retaining the audio under

PostSat Apr 03, 2021 1:30 pm

This seems to be a little trickier one.

A subject is talking in a short video clip and they refer to certain objects which I video recorded separately in a 10-5 second video. I’d like to insert that shorter video of the object into the main video so the subject is taking about the object but instead of seeing the subject you see the object for 5 seconds or so.

After searching through the manual I didn’t find a direct solution for this.

I’m guessing I would FIRST measure the part of the subject talking about the object, then separate that part of the video from its respective part of the audio, then trim out that video of the subject but leave the audio intact and then drag the video of the object down to the Timeline replacing the gap left by the trimmed out video of the subject.

Is that the recommended route you would follow?

Thank you!

This is well explained in the Beginner's Guide that BMD has made available to us. I recommend going through that as a first step. Do the lessons. This and I'm sure many other basic questions you have will be well answered, and the whole editing experience will be much smoother and more enjoyable. ;)
