Syncing several videos

Hi everyone,

I've tried to find an answer to this for quite some time, but haven't found the answer, nor cracked it myself yet. I googled, checked the forums, as well as a multitude of youtube videos.

I used Filmic Pro to record three movies, about 30 min each. However, when I transfered the files to my PC, they have been divided into about 12 files. The end of each clip has an overlap with the next clip of about 4 seconds, except for the end/beginning of the actual takes. The length of them varies. I checked with Filmic Pro, and this has to do with hardware/os variances between their app, and our phones.

I have tried to align all these clips into three coherent movies, using audio sync, multicam bin, etc. But in none of the ways I tried has the algorithm been able to sync them up, and create three clips that I then can use for my timeline (One at a time).

I successfully did something similiar when I had a main camera, and two other angles. Using the audio from all three it was easy. But the main camera was a constant throughout the whole take. Here I'm trying to create one take, containing the merged snippets, using the overlap as a guide)

I assume, as there is an overlap of both audio/video, I should be able to sync them using some kind of procedure, rather than doing it manually eye/ear.

Any advice would be appreciated. Either within DaVinci, or a third party tool.

in V17 you can sync by timecode or waveform in the edit page timeline. details in the new features guide.

If the Filmic clips have timecode you should be able to just edit the clips so that the code is contiguous across the edit point. You could try the Sync Bin feature.
