Duration of Clip in Timeline

PostSun Apr 11, 2021 11:49 pm

I would love to easily see the duration of the clip on the timeline. The File tab in Inspector shows the total file length, not the clip. I can always get to this by Ctrl-D (Change Clip Duration), but not if the track is Locked.

Related, it would be nice, for consistency, if instead of removing context menu options altogether when they aren't available (like when you lock a track), you just greyed them out, which is standard Windows behavior. It's confusing, at best, when your context menus change around on you and you're not sure you clicked on the right thing and are looking at the right menu. This lack of consistency has, by far, been the biggest impediment to Resolve being "intuitive" for me.

The only way I know is to double click on a clip in the Timeline which puts it into the Source viewer. The number top left shows its duration in the Timeline.

My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Nice. Thanks for pointing this out. Not ideal but may be slightly faster than Ctrl-D.
