Import from Premiere XML splits stereo track

PostMon Apr 12, 2021 9:22 pm

Hello

I'm trying to round trip a sequence Premiere -> Resolve (17.1.1) -> Premiere.

The clips in that sequence are Cineform and have a single stereo track.

All the clips are already imported into the Resolve project as I do a rough grade on the dailies as I go.

In timelines created in resolve, the clips' audio show as a single track as expected.

However I import the XML from premiere, the resulting timeline has the left and right audio channels on separate track.

This wouldn't be a big deal if it went back to normal on export, but when I take the graded sequence back into Premiere, the clips now have two mono tracks, which messes up my timeline.

I thought it was Premiere writing the XML wrong, but if I take the Premiere XML and re-import it into Premiere, everything is as expected, so I can only assume Resolve is misunderstanding the XML and changing the timeline's clip attributes when it shouldn't.

Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks.

That's one of the things I never liked about the interchange work flow. I solved it by doing all the work in Resolve. ;)
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
