BUG: Clip attributes are not applied to Proxy media

PostTue Apr 13, 2021 10:24 am

If you create proxy file and than change clip attributes such as Rotation angle, it does not applied to proxy media.
And if you re-generate proxy after clip rotation it has big black frames, see attached picture

I know the problem

https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=137132

The proxy file is rendered as the settings are in the SOURCE clip inspector (not as in the clip inspector in the timeline). This doesn't make sense because if you then drag the clip into the timeline and Use Proxy if Available is active, then you have these settings twice. (1x the proxy file is rendered with the settings and the settings are also copied to the clip inspector in the timeline). You will see the same effect in the viewer in the Media Pool, if you re-generate proxy after clip rotation.

As long as the bug is not fixed, you should first create the proxy file and then make further settings in the Source Clip Inspector. By the way, the same applies to optimized media.

There is another bug with proxies related to audio when the clip uses 44.1 kHz sample rate.

Optimized media are NOT affected by the audio bug.

As a solution, it is currently better/safer to use optimized media instead of proxies. You just have to make sure that you create optimized media first and only then make further settings in the SOURCE Inspector.
