A simple question from an amateur film maker about correct settings for the projectsetting in Davinci Resolve 17 studio. I am filming mostly with GoPro action camera’s (Protune enabled), Dji Mavic Air drone and Sony compact camera (RX100 7 in Cine4 colorprofile). In my knowledge all these cameras are set to color space SRGB / REC709. What is the perfect color mangement settings for my projects if my target output is YouTube and Instagram? My idea: Color sience: DaVinci YRGB Color Managed Resolve color mangement preset: Davinci Wide Gamut Output color space: Rec.709 Gamma 2.2
In the Introduction of the Reference Manual (Help menu), there is a section called Data Levels, Color Management and ACES. That's a good place to start for understanding the issue.
There is also a training manual for the Color page in Resolve. I haven't done it myself, but it's reasonable to believe this will also have a lot of good information on the topic.
I've seen a lot of users in the forums try doing research to solve a specific issue.
I think that's not the best approach.
What I'm actually recommending is reading the full information, so you have an understanding of how things work. Having that understanding, specific issues are often easier to solve.
Make sense?
My Biases:
You NEED training. You NEED a desktop. You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
While I agree that understanding what is causing the issue is the best method long term, for someone frustrated with a specific issue, telling them to 'read the manual' or link to a purchasable manual that might not actually have the answer they are after is frustrating.
If anyone does have an actual answer to this, while I am simultaneous trying to understand the workings of the new system, it would be appreciated.
