Select Audio Track in Multicam

PostMon Apr 19, 2021 9:38 pm

Hey team,
I'm a recent arrival on this platform from FCPX and struggling a bit here.

No I've got my Multicam clip (6 camera angles, 4 separate audio tracks) together. I'm just a little confused at present. (I've done my best tor read the manual).

I can easily swap between video tracks in the Multicam editor. But the program seems to ignore my requests to swap between audio tracks. I click and it simply fails to respond. I'm having no problem viewing and swapping between the video tracks, but it is totally non responsive to me click the 'Music Note' and then clicking on the window to swap audio tracks.

I know my video tracks are responsive. I click the window. A cut occurs. The viewer swaps.
It isn't giving me that for the audio tracks though. I hit the music note to activate the audio track switcher. Click the window that I want. The clip doesn't cut. The audio track doesn't swap. Nothing.

I KNOW that my audio tracks are there, inside my mutlicam clip. I can hit Alt + 5 to swap to track 5, but have no ability to cut between them as I'd like to?

Am I overlooking something or is this a known software bug?

Thanks!

I will recommend a different approach.

1. Create the Multicam using only camera media.
2. Add the Multicam to the timeline and Disable the audio track.
3. Add the audio under the Multicam and sync it up.

This method makes mixing in Fairlight later on much easier.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

that approach sounds ok for a locked edit. ?

That really slows down the editorial process.

multicam needs an overhaul!

That doesn't make sense to me. An edit can't be locked before it's even begun.

I've found the approach I offered to be the most efficient overall.
