HDR Preview not working with "grouped" clips?

I originally had a long post about how the feature wasn't working at all... then I did more testing and found the feature was only disabled on the group pre/post clip groups.

Is there a way I can turn on a feature that shows me the tonal range being selected WHILE in the pre/post clip group? It seems to me that if I can use HDR to grade an entire group I should be able to use the selected tonal ange button (half white half black circle :: is there an official name for this button?) to see how it affects the currently selected clip without having to take the extra step of clicking the "clip" group to use this tool.

If there is no feature I can enable to work in this manner, I would like to ask that this to be moved to a feature request, as I think myself and others would consider this an expected behavior.
