PostTue Apr 20, 2021 6:37 am

I don;t know how am i suppose to learn this program when this messages appears and i must restart. I am new to resolve coming from Premier and After Effects and this is the most frustrating experience I've had compounded by the lack of any real solutions to this problem i am having. I look around and all i see are discussions and no real solutions.

I am of the opinion that the memory issue is a long standing bug in Resolve with nVidia GPU's that will require a fix from BMD to actually solve once and for all.

Unfortunately, I've seen no evidence that BMD agrees with me on that.

this error message is not nvidia GPU specific!

That may be. But I've seen multiple reports from users that projects which throw up this error using nVidia cards work perfectly well using an AMD card with less VRAM.

So a bug in Resolve related to nVidia (or maybe specifically CUDA) may not be the only cause for the error, but I do believe it's one cause.

mo vram
less timeline resolution
less temporal ofx

i do not have issues with a lack of vram
i have 11 or 12g vram in my machines
most projects are DCi4k or UHD
w10 + nvidia

if you could find / afford a 12g 3060, it's not all that fast in 2021 (about as fast than a 1080Ti tho), but has enough vram to make that error go away unless one is running a huge timeline (answer = why?) or uses tonz-0-temporal effects (answer = node cache)

You would think so, but there are multiple reports of folks getting this error using an 11GB 3080 with timelines that shouldn't be causing such an error.

This is another reason I think it's a bug in Resolve relate to nVidia.

We get this bug simply by opening a bin with pngs in it. We are using the latest card (3080) and the driver recommended by BM, yet the bug happens fairly often. I am inclined to agree it is a Resolve problem.

I have an NVIDIA Quadro P4000 (8 Gb of RAM). This pops up failry frequently. Once memory went from 1Gb to 8 Gb just importing a 512 Kb png image. Resolve crashed and it was impossible to reopen the project, as the message appeared as soon as the project was open.

There are definitely issues in Resolve. My version is 17.1.1 build 9, free version.
