iMac Pro Logs itself out and goes to sleep with Resolve

PostTue Apr 20, 2021 7:32 am

Hello!

I seem to have a strange problem. I'm using Resolve Studio v 17.0 Build 39 and working with Ursa 12K footage in braw.

When exporting Full HD or 4K, no issues. Same clip, when I export at 12K the machine goes crazy. It's almost hung and then it Logs itself out and goes to sleep.

When I move the mouse, I am presented with the login window and when I do log in again, Resolve starts up on its own and tries to resume the export, which most often fails, and I have to force quit it.

I am even exporting with Render Speed set to 75

The Machine has:
3.2 GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon W
32GB Ram
Radeon Pro Vega 56 with 8gb vram

Any ideas?

Edit systems should have all low power modes like Sleep or Hibernate fully disabled, with things like the monitor, hard drives, etc. set to never turn off.

Check those settings maybe?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I’d say 8 GB VRAM is too low for 12K.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

If you’re getting 75 FPS at render time, you’re not throttling it. Try anywhere from 1 to 10.
