Importing Video

It seems because my film school is loaning us their computer with the free version of DR17 the company will not help me

So I am trying this forum

My instructor (I am guessing :?: ) is using the paid version of DR17. Which might explain some of the differences - but some of the display stuff is different

The biggest issue I have right now is that there is no way to import the sample videos he has for class.
On his screen he is sharing (in zoom) he uses the files on the upper far left side. On mine I have two to pick form and but neither show the file with the video (saved in a file on desk top)

I have
C:\vol0 (Usage: 14%)
Which has nothing when you make the > face down

then I have
C:\ (Usage: 13%)
and this has several files when you make the > face down
BUT none have the files under Desk top (Not even the tap I found that says Desk Top)

HOWEVER
I was able to import by using File tab at the top and Import
BUT
nothing shows up in box next to the player, it only shows up in the bottom middle window

What am I doing wrong?
How do I fix this, so I can follow along in class?

For Import duties, switch to the Media page, and in the upper left Media Storage panel navigate to the folder with the media.

If the clips don't show up, Resolve cannot work with them.

Studio can handle more media formats than Free. You're instructor will have to accommodate that difference.
