VLC Player displays DNxHD export wrong

I exported a finished projcet from Resolve in DNxHD to send it back to the editor. But the VLC Player shows the image way to saturated and contrasty as is actually is. The other players like QT shows it fine.
Could it be because i worked in Davinci Wide Gamut and exportet to Rec.709 and VLC interprets the data wrong?

This is why you can't QC video on a computer. Variables like the OS, GPU driver and even the player can (and often do) alter the image.
You have to get the video off the computer and onto a calibrated display in order to judge it.

It does answer the question.
I would not use VLC player to verify levels, saturation, gamma etc.

I just want to know why VLC has problems with DNxHD files from Resolve but other players do not and if this has something to do with the Davinci wide gamut. I do not use it to verify.

If you export from DaVinci as Rec 709 it has nothing to do with the wide gamut timeline processing.

Hi!
I don't recommend you to use VLC to check a clip or the apple "preview playback".
A calibrated monitor is a must-have.
About VLC, VLC changes your saturation/gamut, contrast/gamma levels of your clips and is not made for DNxHD or DNxHR playback, and if I'm not wrong other 10bit or 12bit videos.
Is designed to playback H264 encoded videos.
If you are outputting rec 709 for web use try Rec 709 Gamma 2.2 and upload to Vimeo or youtube and check there.
