Duplicating sequences slow

Is there a way of quickly duplicating sequences?
It sometimes takes several minutes over here.. I suspect that this is because Resolve copies all the caching files, too. Sometimes it asks me if I want to do that. But mostly it would just give me the spinning wheel...

If I Duplicate a timeline without Cache, it was pretty much instantaneous.
If I generate Cache for that timeline, it did take longer.
Studio 17.1.1 for Windows.

I always have caching activated so I'm not sure how it would do without. However I notice, it doesn't matter whether the sequence is rendered or not. It would just take forever.
Could it be connected to live mode? I have that turned on.
Also, with loading and saving the project it's pretty tough. The project gotten pretty big but still - 5 Minutes for an autosave. I don't know.
It seems like Resolve always recreates the whole project file or even database: every save is 8 GBs in my cache folder. Would it make more sense to autosave based on bins that have changed since the last save? That's the way Avid handles it and it's much faster (-> Avid Attic).

Live Save shouldn't have any effect on how long it takes to Duplicate a timeline. But 5 minutes to do an auto save does seem excessive.
You're working exclusively from internal drives? No removable or networked drives?

Just internal Raid5 500MB/sec. Even with caching turned off it takes about 30 secs to duplicate. Depending on the size of the project. And project loading also takes some time. It got better when I exported the project into a new database, but a couple days later we are back to excessive loading times. Most of the times passes before the progress bar of "loading.." even appears. Once the bar is there, everything loads quickly.

I don't believe that's normal.
The database is also on the RAID? Is that hardware or software RAID? Have you tested using a database on a single drive?

It's a hardware RAID. And it's actually not the first time I'm experiencing these issues. It's definitely not my hardware - I never experience these problems with Premiere or AVID. I am pretty sure that the Davinci project architecture just doesn't handle bigger editing projects very well. It's always ok in the beginning, but gets slower and slower over time. Especially when adding and tracking face refinement. It seems like that has a big impact on project size and speed in the long run. But that's just a guess, trying to connect the dots..
