Importing large files (16gb)

I have tried numerous methods found online to import one of the file that the video file that I have which is over 16 gb in size. It is very large which is why I want to edit and trim it into bite sized pieces. However, Davinci 17.1.1 refuses to import the media file. Mind you it is .mp4 and not .mov which I know is not supported by the editor.

The MP4 format isn't a problem for Resolve. Nor are large files. It's more likely the problem is the specs of the file.
Resolve is professional level software geared more towards camera-based formats. Media which doesn't come from a camera may not always work.
Does that apply in your case? Where did you get the file?

MP4 and MOV are just a containers, it's the codec they contain that is important. Where did you get that nonsense about MP4 not being supported?
