Audio Glitches in Resolve 17

PostSun Apr 25, 2021 6:48 pm

Hey guys,

I'm having trouble with what appears to be audio glitching.

I've been working on editing a feature film for several months now. I've been using the same media the whole time. All of the sudden, when I'm playing back my timeline rhythmic POPPING sounds appear.

At first I thought my speakers were screwed up, but then I see that the levels are spiking, as if the audio is clipping in random moments. I can mute the audio channels and the popping disappears, but when I turn them back on, it comes back.

When I tried exporting the sequence, the popping exported as well.
I have no idea why this is happening or what to do to fix it.

Here's what it looks like: https://vimeo.com/541354827/ca608fd9a6

Thanks for the help!

If you Match Frame that audio into the Source Viewer, does it still clip?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Hello all, something of a first (or second) post. I thought I would jump onto a thread rather than start another.

Brand new Resolve user and I am experiencing the same issue.

My audio is exported as 48k 24 bit, i've even tried 44.1. It seems to happen in both the Edit and Cut sections.

As a new user I'm mainly wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if a certain workflow is preferred.

All that said - Resolve is blowing me away. I'm an old school video editing hobbiest from back in the Media 100 days, and early Final Cut and iMovie - I guess I've been put off by magnetic timelines and subscription fees over the years. This software is exactly as it should be - plain and simple.

Hoping I can sort this audio glitch issue out though so I can get on with the job.

I'm on a 2017 15" MBP with 4GB Vram card.

Cheers

OK, I've just tried Resolve 16 and the audio issue is not there. So must be an issue with R17.
