File database reliability question

Hello,

I'm finally installing Resolve 17 on my new machine and i noticed that Postgres is no more installed by default. Now it would be good time to choose between installing PostGres again or switch to a file databse solution. I'm the only one working on my projects so it may be a good option if there are no drawbacks.

I mean: has local db the same reliability of PostGres db? In case of Resolve crash, do i risk db corruption? (I never had any db corruption with PostGres on the older machine, even with repeated hard crashes due to old hardware)
And from a pure performance point of view, which approach allows a more "fluid" Resolve experience?

Thanks! Umberto

DiskDB is very stable. I’ve never had a crash corrupt the Database. Just make sure to keep a backup copy of your DiskDB databases on another drive, then you will not have to worry. I periodically backup my databases and include a date in the file name so if I ever want to go back, I’ll know how to find the date I want to restore. Each time you update Resolve, be sure to make a backup before updating. Resolve will update the version of the database to the newest version when you open the database the first time after updating.

Resolve doesn't crash on me often, but it isn't never.

Happily, it is never that those crashes have affected my databases.

Thank you for reporting your experiences.
Honestly, using Postgres seems a bit overkill for my workflow and the only excuse would be more robustness. But looks like i can try to cross the bridge :)
If i'd experience corruption, i'd restore the last backup and convert back to Postgres. Think it's the most reasonable approach for my case.

I have never had a Resolve database issue in over 15 years of both PostGres and Disk databases, on Mac, Windows & Linux.
