Color Grade Effect not seen in Fusion

PostThu Apr 29, 2021 11:26 am

I have color graded a single node in color tab, then I removed the noise (remove noise tool) from that clip in Fusion but I cant see the color grade effect while working in the Fusion. I can see both color grade and Noise Removal effect in EDIT TAB but I cant see any color grading in Fusion.

This is because Fusion page is processed before Color.

Is there any workaround so that I can see the effect?

Create fusion clip in the edit page before moving to the fusion page.

Thnx, is there any performance issue as well using fusion clip rather than having effects without fusion clip? So r u saying Fusion Clip will go thru the Color tab and shows the fusion effect?

The colorist put a Lut in a timeline node, not in a clip node.
In this case, despite creating a New Fusion Clip, the Lut doesn't show in the Fusion window. In fact, any color adjustment node in the Timeline nodes, doesn't show in the Fusion window, be it a Lut or anything else.
My problem is that it's the way a few colorists work, whatever you tell them...
Any workaround for seeing their color adjustments in Fusion ?

Coloring on the timeline node is really bad workflow as you probably know.

As a work around:
Apply the lut/grade to the clips and then disable the timeline node(never to be used again:)
Then create a fusion clip.

You can try loading the lut in fusion (never tried it myself) then disable the lut in fusion before going back to edit.

This is not a solution for me as I have to comply to the colorist unprofessional way of working, and we're round tripping between color grading and VFX...

BTW, applying the Lut in Fusion works perfectly well!
But in this case, it's not only about "compensating" a Lut that was put in the Timeline but other color nodes as well.

Hmm not many options left.
You can export the timeline grade as a lut and and then use it in fusion. Hopefully the timeline grade is basic with no secondary’s that won’t transport to the lut.
