Importing .m2ts files crashes Resolve 16?

PostSun May 02, 2021 2:41 am

Hello all,

I've been working with Resolve for 2 years with no major inconveniences, save for maybe a couple of painfully timed crashes (I've since learned to turn autosave on). However, recently I've been trying to work with .m2ts files, specifically from Blu-Ray sources, to get higher-fidelity video quality than from running an .mkv file through HandBrake.

It's a highly variable process. Recently, I tried to open a file from my personal copy of "The Beatles: 1" (solely as a test), and when I import any file, the program instantly crashes. It is not an issue with encryption, nor am I opening the file straight from the Blu-Ray. I am running the Studio version of DaVinci Resolve 16.1.1.

Does anyone know the cause of this? Anything that I can do, or need to install to make this work natively in Resolve?

Best Regards,
Fus S.

Try to re-wrap into .mov with a tool like Shutter Encoder.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.
