A bit of positive feedback!

PostMon May 03, 2021 6:08 pm

I cancelled my Creative Cloud sub a few months ago (except Photoshop) and moved over to Nuke Indie and Resolve to replace AE and Premiere. I was never a huge fan of Premiere. It's fine and gets the job done, but it doesn't inspire strong feelings beyond that. Nuke I'm liking quite a bit more than AE. It's more robust and matches the style of thinking I learned from using Houdini a bunch.

I never felt very comfortable in Resolve before this. It's quite different from Premiere and on the surface seems much more complicated (complex color page, huge number of menu items, interface not very customizable, database project storage, etc, etc). I recently started working on a series of short trailers in Resolve and decided to really finally learn it. I made a big breakthrough after I started using keyboard shortcuts for everything. I'm sailing through tasks now and enjoying the workflow very much.

Really remarkable that Blackmagic offers this software for FREE (or a modest fee for the Studio version). Usually there's a catch with free software, but in this case it really is as good a deal as anybody might have dreamed it would be.

And Resolve is even better with the paid Resolve Studio version.

I'm sure! I looked over the feature list and it's mostly pro things I don't need for my current projects. Glad to know the option to affordably upgrade is there though.
