Sometimes Timeline dropdown list doesn't show.

PostWed May 05, 2021 8:09 pm

I've had this happen a couple times when working a project with multiple timeline where some and just today, all the timelines didn't show up (except the existing timeline).

I'm referring to the dropdown above the main program window. I can easily fix the problem if I manually open any timeline directly from the asset bin.

Disabled timelines won't show in that list. Might that be relevant?

These problem timelines were never disabled. Once I double-clicked in the bin one of the timelines that aren't showing in the dropdown, it will load the timeline, but also then show up in the dropdown. Of course, because it is the current timeline.

I have about 10 timelines, not sure if happens when it becomes more than a certain number although I do recall when I only had about 6 or 7 it was happening, I didn't pay close attention, almost like I thought it wasn't a real issue. But it is real.

I have a project with more than 20 timelines, and they all show in the drop down.

The only reason I know for them not showing is being Disabled.

I don't recall seeing other posts about this. Is it just the one project? Do you have other databases?

That is a good question, I haven't any other projects except the one that has a multitude of timelines. So, I cannot say.

That being said, I've since reopened my project and I realize that the timeline drop-down list only ever shows 10 timelines at a time even though I'm now at 12. I'm now thinking maybe there is a setting in Davinci that is defaulted to showing 10 of the most recent timelines. I've looked in the manual to see if there was a setting for this, but haven't yet found it. Anyways, it now seems, that may have been my problem; even though I could swear this happened with less than 10 timelines as well. Thanks.

How many monitors do you have?

That may be the issue. I recall someone else reporting that only 10 load when using dual monitors.

Ok, I've enabled that checkbox to load all timelines. Restarted Resolve. It does seem to take a touch longer to load that project, however as for the dropdown list of timelines (above the program window), it still displays only 10. When I load a timeline, not in the list, that will then show at the top of the list and then the previous bottom of the list is no longer on the list. Thanks.
