Fairlight: Bounced Audio Has Artifacts

I keep giving Fairlight a chance, and it keeps disappointing.

On a lark, to see if I could save time from going to our separate DAW to check loudness, I used Fairlight to bounce the audio into a track. Sadly, there are artifacts in the bounced track.

I attached a sample. (no wav files allowed here, so its mp3)

Out of curiosity, did you have any vst or audio plugs in your project?

Also, do you have busy dropbox activity?

I've had some artefacts with bounces in both scenarios

No plugins, no effects, no work in Fairlight at all. Just four audio tracks. No dropbox installed on the system.

Hi Matt, that sounds like the sort of glitch I'd associate with an audio buffer for the interface being too small. Are you still using the Claret (I think it was?). If you click on the settings prog for your interface there should be an option for setting buffer size..see what it's set to. Windows audio drivers get glitchy with low settings (you can run them lower with ASIO drivers without a problem), if it's not set to 512 samples, try it at that amount and see..

We returned the Claret and went back to using the Apogee Symphony Desktop. I will take a look at the buffer size...

For what its worth, we use this same pc for scoring in Cubase and have loads of tracks (40?) with vst instruments, voiceovers, sfx, LOTS of plugins... and have never heard this kind of artifact from it.

Where this artifact occurred, there is a single stereo clip (the music). No fx, no plugins, nothing else happening with audio. There is a single title in the video track. Seems to me our system is robust enough to handle that.

I've had fairlight artifacts occur in audio bounces that disappeared when I deleted the Fusion clip which happened to exist on that part of the timeline. So it seems that the video pipeline affects the audio one, even if you're only bouncing audio. This could be an effect limited to Fusion though, and I am on a very different system, but I'd try duplicating the timeline and deleting everything on the video tracks and see if the artifacts go away.

The quickest solution for me is just to stop trying to use Fairlight. :?

Same problem over two years later. Version 18.1.4 BUILD 9. I'm using MBP 2021 with M1 and no additional sound interface.

I've got a fresh project, only a few raw video clips + 2 mono audio clips, which sound good before bouncing. I wanted to bounce them to a stereo clip. The bounced clip has glitches, and as Andy Evans mentioned, it sounds like a low audio buffer glitch (experienced in Ableton many times).

Has anyone found a solution/workaround?

Hi Arkadiusz

Could you make available a link to a project export (DRP file), the original media and the bounced media?

Thanks
Shrinivas

Hi Arkadiusz

Can you try installing Resolve 18.6.2 to check if you still see these issues? Can you also give us an idea of your storage setup - number of local disks and network disks, location of the media, any custom paths for proxies, cache folders etc.

Thanks
Shrinivas

Are you using the System disk, almost full, as the cache disk?
