After a bit of a glitch with a dongle which would not light up and was replaced under warranty, Davinci Studio 17.1.1. now lives.
However the Speed Editor doesn't. I was prompted to update, however despite following the instructions it was reported that the update had failed and to check connections.
It is a bit of a counndrum. Are the "connections" internet connections or the USB cable not meeting spec?
The computer has USB3 inputs but I see nothing about eUSB anywhere. Lights show on the Speed Editor but nothing happens when any controls are moved.
It may also be that with the current CUDA cards falling shot of the minimum for Resolve 17, that the Speed Editor may not be a fit with an inferior system. I have yet to buy upgraded graphics hardware.
