DRP size questions

I have a very large project that now has 77 timeline Masters. It's one of those client projects that just keeps growing over time.

It would be inefficient to have to break up this project into other smaller projects because I copy/paste from many different timelines etc.

That said, the project now takes 17 minutes to open up. It always opens successfully but it does take 17 minutes. However, once it is loaded, it only takes about 2 minutes to reopen the project even after a crash. Clearly, something is stored somewhere in a temporary RAM.

The project DRP file size is 335mb currently and growing.

I am curious to here about DRP sizes and project opening times for others out there who are working on large projects. Also, please include the number of working timelines too please.

Thanks,

Erik

Erik,

I just finished up my largest project to date. The backup .drp is 416MB. The project folder as a whole is 20TB. I don't know how many timelines I have, but there are 36 final videos (e.g. Master timelines).

The project certainly takes longer to load if I have multiple timelines open or if the system is being slow for some reason. I've never timed it, but it has taken several minutes before; probably not more than 5.

With only one timeline open (and keeping the media nicely tucked away in collapsed folders), the project opened in about 15 seconds.

My problem with big projects (just finished one with over 110 30min timelines) is the drp export and import. That last project took more than 30 min to import.
I never encountered a time where a project took more than 5-6 min to open up though.
We make sure the DB is on a very fast ssd drive.

Appreciate all the feedback from everyone.

I really just want to say that AFTER updating to 17.2,
my 17 minute load project now loads in 2 minutes!!!

Huge difference!
