I've searched for answers and couldn't find a hard answer and I apologize because I am coming at this completely ignorant of video. My videos are all exporting the audio out of sync with the video.

I am:

opening the program

clicking "Untitled Project:

dragging my mp4 video in. (it's about 2mins @29.83fps)

Agree to change project framerate

adjusting the clip

exporting via YouTube settings

I'm changing the framerate, but the problem remains whether I do that or not. I've tried codex download things and watching YouTube videos that let me to EyeFrame convertor (no luck). Please help. Willing to provide any info that might help that I'm too ignorant to provide in this post.

That framerate indicates VFR, variable frame-rate video. The camera recorded only the number of frames it felt necessary due to the motion it detected, but the sound is recorded continuously.

You may need to download the free utility apps Handbrake or ShutterEncoder to convert the files to CFR.

I think you have an incorrect understanding why files are VFR these days. It's mostly due to thermal management in phones. They are not designed for continuous operation and my throttle after a couple minutes which may cause a frame dropped here and there. Instead of skipping the frame and forcing audio out of sync they double the frame duration of the last frame to make up for the missing one and keep audio in sync. Better apps like mcpro24fps allow you to modify this behavior if desired, but it's usually not desired.

I haven't really verified if Resolve correctly doubles these extended frames, but I'd assume it does. The best way of course would be if Resolve would just use its excellent optical flow to make up for the missing frames.

If Resolve really gets it wrong, get the video in Resolve and resize the audio in rubberband to match.

Reencoding the entire video in random apps is plain BS and pure cargo cult. If anything an audio resize is needed.

Solve that as a first step. I'm a proponent of formal education, though these days there are a plethora of online classes available. You may even find some free classes.

Classes, not tutorials. A genuine education in film/video production.

Once you have that under your belt, BMD has offered us some really great training resources for Resolve. The videos are a good overview, but the books are the best path forward, in my view.
